The Valley of Bones

Luis H. Rocha

By the valley, the dry, dry valley
There we sat down, yeah we wept
When we remembered, oh we remembered
That the breath of life had left

The hand of the Lord came down upon me
Carried me out to a valley of bone
And He said: Son of man, can these bones live?
And I stood there, standing all alone

By the valley, the dry, dry valley
There we sat down, yeah we wept
When we remembered, oh we remembered
That the breath of life had left

So I prophesied just like I was told
And the bones came rattling, bone to bone
They got the sinew, they got the muscle
They got the skin, but they had no soul

By the valley, the dry, dry valley
There we sat down, yeah we wept
When we remembered, oh we remembered
That the breath of life had left

How many nations look alive today?
Full of flesh, full of noise, full of flags and parade
But the breath
The breath ain't there

Then He said: Prophet, call the four winds!
Let them breathe on these fallen ones!
And they rose up, a mighty army
But first they had to know that they were bones!

By the valley, the dry, dry valley
There we sat down, yeah we wept
Oh, by the valley, the dry, dry valley
There we sat down, yeah we wept
