What was the point of all that and do I even need to know?
Was it all learning or was it a time for me to grow?
It really took some time for us to learn to embrace life
And life is so so short it's just a case of day and night

What is this dialogue, it's endless and it hurts my brain
They're singing love, love, love just cos they want a world refrain
But love is just a word it's been imposed on me and you
I use it everyday but that's just cos I've been taught to

Now I'm trying so hard not to say the wrong thing but I'm failing again
I'm tired of family rooms, I'm tired of forms
I'm tired of being referred to as your friend

When they said live and let live I heard don't let go
And then they said keep it simple and I thought: That's for simple folk
I sat where I was told and I lied the whole thing through
I was incapable of just telling the truth
