Wie woont in de schuilplaats van de AllerhoogsteHe who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Zal rust vinden in de schaduw van de AlmachtigeWill find rest in the shadow 'f the Almighty
Ik zal zeggen van de Heer, Hij is mijn toevluchtI will say of the Lord, He is my refuge
Mijn God en mijn schild op wie ik vertrouwMy God and my shield in whom I trust
Want zeker zal Hij je redden van de strik van de vogelvangerFor surely He will save you from the fowler's snare
En van de dodelijke pestilentie ookAnd from the deadly pestilence as well
Hij zal je bedekken met Zijn verenHe will cover over you with His feathers
En daar onder Zijn vleugels vind je vredeAnd there under His wings you will find peace
En Zijn trouw zal je schild zijnAnd His faithfulness will be your shield

Je zult de angst van de nacht niet vrezenYou'll not fear the terror of the night time
Noch de pijl die overdag vliegtNor the arrow that flies by day
Noch de pest die in de duisternis sluiptNor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness
Noch de plaag die om het middaguur verwoestNor the plague that destroys at midday
Duizend kunnen aan je zijde vallenA thousand may fall at your side
Tienduizend aan je rechterhandTen thousand may fall at your right hand
Maar het zal je niet nabij komenBut it will not come near you
Je zult alleen zienYou will only see
Je zult alleen waarnemen wanneer het oordeel komtYou will only observe when judgement comes
Want Hij beveelt Zijn engelen over jouFor He commands His angels concerning you
Om je te beschermen waar je ook gaatTo guard you wherever you may go
Om bij je te zijn, en je op te tillen in hun handenTo be with you, and lift you in their hands
Zodat je je voet niet stoot aan een steenSo that you won't strike your foot against a stone

Als je de Allerhoogste tot je woning maaktWell if you make the Most High your dwelling
Zelfs de Heer die mijn toevlucht isEven the Lord who is my refuge
Zal er zeker geen groot kwaad overkomenSurely no great harm will befall you
En geen ramp zal nabij je huis komenNor disaster will come there near your home
