Holding On

The bottle is half empty and the ashtray's getting full
Her eyes are sore from crying but there's nothing she can do
She loved him like the farmers love the rain when there's a drought
She's lost the man that she can't live without

She'd lie awake at night thinking about the fight they had
The yelling and the screaming and the sound of that door slam
Well this heart as been broken just one too many times
She's had enough she's pushing him aside

Coz now he's gone she's wiped those tears away
Because she knows that things will be ok
And she's back up in the saddle she's not letting go
Although she's on her own
She is strong and holding on

Three thousand acres well she's got a lot to do
But she's not about to break down and let daddy's farm fall through
This land meant everything to him she's gonna do what's right
She'll break her back to keep this place alive

Sometimes she gets lonely when she thinks about the past
But now she's doing the only thing that makes her smile at last
