Where the Waves Break

There's an empty space inside my soul
A hollow place that somehow makes me whole
I've tried to fill it with a thousand roads
But it always follows everywhere I go
No beer sitting on this old bar top
Just a glass of whiskey keeping time with the clock
Every sip burns, but it can't erase
The silence staring back into my face
