Sadness in my heart
Anxiety eating away at my soul
Tears in my eyes, and my mind racing
Knowing that death is irreversible

It hurts so much to know my animals
Will never be here again
It hurts not to hear their barking
Meowing, and whistling

It cuts deep into my soul
I just wish I had my animals back
To people who have no love for them
Animals are just animals

But to me, they are my friends
My family, my children
The companions who are always there for me
They aren't fake like humans

They don't abandon us when we need them
Unless death takes them away
And that is something you just can't get over
Don't come at me with that damn phrase

If it died, just get another one
No, that doesn't work
Animals aren't objects you can simply swap out
Grief is what truly kills us

Because the mind knows we will never see
Those who have left us again
It hurts so much to look around
And realize I will never again see

The animals I've lost forever
My anxiety gives me no peace
And the pain in my chest is unbearable
Looking at photos of the animals that have passed away hurts so much

It is an indescribable pain
Losing a friend hurts deeply
Make no mistake, death is something
From which there is no return

It hurts to look around and not see you

I miss your barking, meowing, and singing
I rescued most of you from the streets
And gave you so much love
I miss every moment you spent by my side

It is so painful to have to bury
The animals who pulled me out of depression
But I promise you that the depression won't return
Because I know you are alive in my heart

I hope you are in a place filled with joy and peace
Free from suffering
A place without pain
